Four Cases of Toxic Anterior Syndrome after Cataract Surgery under Intracameral 0.5% Lidocaine Anesthesia

Purpose: To report four cases of toxic anterior segment syndrome after cataract surgery under intracameral 0.5% lidocaine anesthesia.Case summary: Four patients had a decrease in visual acuity within 3 days undergoing surgery. There was evidence chamber inflammation with corneal edema and opacity. Toxic diagnosed on the basis negative microbial cultures clinical features. Three were treated systemic topical steroids, one steroids only. months postoperatively, three good without or edema. However, patient, who did not receive exhibited persistent required endothelial keratoplasty.Conclusions: is surgical complication that requires immediate treatment. Systemic can be helpful steroids. Clinicians should ensure measures are taken to avoid contamination procedure substances prevent syndrome.
